Soundarya Rajinikanth Defends Katrina Kaif on Postpartum Trolling
Soundarya Rajinikanth and Salman Khan call out postpartum body-shaming after Katrina Kaif's Ganesh Chaturthi appearance.

Katrina Kaif’s latest public appearance should have been a quiet festive moment. Instead, it became another conversation about a woman’s body.
The actor was photographed at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, and clips quickly turned into before-and-after posts. Some users compared her appearance before and after pregnancy, commenting on weight gain after she and Vicky Kaushal welcomed their son Vihaan in November 2025.
Now, two of the most familiar voices around her are pushing back.
‘You have to give that woman that respect’
Soundarya Rajinikanth addressed the trolling in a conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit on his YouTube channel. She did not frame it as a debate about one celebrity. She framed it as basic respect for what a woman’s body does.
“I have two children and it is not easy,” Soundarya said. She added that the body changes through pregnancy and childbirth, and that having a child later in life can be even harder. “You have to give that woman that respect.”
Her own timeline gives the words weight. Soundarya welcomed her elder son Ved in 2015, and after her marriage to Vishagan, her son Veer arrived in 2022, when she was past 35. She said the online reaction to Katrina “was not fair” and “was not kind.”
Salman Khan’s simpler take
Salman Khan, who has shared the screen with Katrina for years, was equally direct. He reminded trolls that weight gain after pregnancy is normal, and said Katrina would return to form when she returns to films. The more important line from him was about time: she should be allowed to be with her family right now.
As he put it: “Pregnant hone ke baad everyone puts on weight.”
Why this matters beyond one actor
The episode is bigger than Katrina. It shows how quickly a woman’s postpartum body is treated as a headline, while her work, privacy and adjustment to motherhood are ignored.
For new mothers outside the industry, the same logic applies. Recovery timelines differ, bodies change, and the expectation to look untouched by childbirth is not a realistic standard.
What the supporters want fans to remember:
- Postpartum weight changes are ordinary, not a scandal.
- A public appearance does not invite commentary on a body.
- The standard applied to new mothers is one no one needs to meet.
For fans who grew up watching Katrina, the takeaway is simple: the same internet that celebrates milestones should not turn those milestones into criticism. Postpartum recovery has no fixed timeline, and no woman should have to defend hers.
Neither Katrina nor Vicky Kaushal has responded to the noise. The silence reads as a refusal to participate, and the voices of Soundarya and Salman have filled that space with a clearer message: respect new mothers.
