Rakesh Roshan developed and written Krrish, a 2006 Indian Bollywood superhero movie. Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra appear in the film, which also features Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha, Manini Mishra, Archana Puran Singh, and Sharat Saxena. It is also the successor to Koi… Mil Gaya inside the Krrish franchise, which tells the tale of Krishna, the child of the preceding movie’s heroes, who inherited his father’s extraordinary skills. After finding love with Priya, he pursues her to Singapore, wherein he adopts the alias “Krrish” in order to conceal his real identity after rescuing children from such a blazing circus.
He is recognised as a superhero from such a point forward, and should subsequently foil the villainous Dr Arya’s schemes, who has a relation to Krishna’s father, Rohit, the main of the previous movie.
Krrish was intended to become a global phenomenon and a forerunner in Indian cinema, having stunning visuals on par with all those seen in Hollywood. The stunts were coordinated by Chinese martial arts movie specialist Tony Ching, while the effects crew was helped by Hollywood’s Marc Kolbe and Craig Mumma.
Rajesh Roshan composed the music, while Salim-Sulaiman provided the background score. Filming took place in both Singapore and India to a great degree.
On June 23, 2006, the movie was released globally with an expenditure of 40 crores and 1000 prints, reportedly near-record figures for an Indian low budget movie. In India, Krrish garnered mixed reviews from critics but had a record-breaking first week with the box office. Krrish was a hit, collecting a total of 126 crores globally, making it the third highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2006.
So at the 52nd Filmfare Awards, Krrish earned eight nominations, comprising Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor for Roshan, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Rekha, which won three of them, notably Best Visual Effects.
The movie garnered nine nominations and three wins at the 2007 IIFA Awards, winning Best Actor for Roshan. The National Film Award for Best Special Effects was also given to it. Krrish 3, the third instalment inside the series, was published in 2013.
T-Series released the movie’s soundtrack, composed by Rajesh Roshan, on April 30, 2006. Ibraheem Ashk, Nasir Faraaz, and Vijay Akela were among the lyricists. The backdrop music was composed by Salim-Sulaiman. It went on to become the year’s sixth best-selling Bollywood album.
To maximise revenues, the merchandise was offered for sale before the movie’s premiere as part of a promotion. Action figures, masks, as well as other toys were among them.
Krrish had a final budget of 40 crores, which again was regarded as a big-budget picture by Bollywood normal standards. On June 23, 2006, this movie was released in 1,000 copies in five languages at the same time. For product placement, soundtrack, and foreign distribution rights, this was the first Motion picture to be paid in advance.
Adlabs distributed the movie’s DVD in Region 1 on August 18, 2006. Filmkraft distributed this for all territories on August 21, 2006. A Blu-ray version was also published by Adlabs.
