Russell Crowe, the Oscar winner, is scheduled to star in Sony’s Marvel film Kraven the Hunter. Crowe will co-star with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was cast as the eponymous antihero in a multi-picture contract last year.
Many of the primary characters are reported to be Kraven’s family members, according to The Hollywood Reporter, but storey specifics, including Crowe’s participation, are being kept under wraps.
Kraven, one of Spider-most Man’s well-known foes, first appeared in the comic book The Amazing Spider-Man No. 15 in 1964, created by Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The Russian big-game hunter chose Spider-Man as the most terrifying opponent he could think of.
Kraven is likely best remembered for the iconic 1980s narrative “Kraven’s Last Hunt,” wherein the villain defeats Spider-Man, bury him alive, but also assumes his identity.
As the studio expands its Sony Universe of Marvel Characters, Kraven the Hunter is one of several projects in development. Sony, which owns the film rights to Spider-Man as well as other associated characters, has indeed released Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), as well as the Jared Leto-led Morbius, which is set to release in April. The company is now also working on a film starring Dakota Johnson called Madame Web.
The movie was directed by J.C. Chandor and is based on a script by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk. The movie Kraven the Hunter will indeed be Russell Crowe second foray into the Marvel universe. Just on the Disney side, he will play Zeus in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, which will be released in July. Apple and Skydance’s The Greatest Beer Run Ever is among his next onscreen appearances, and he is now directing Poker Face, in which he also acts opposite Liam Hemsworth and RZA.
Kraven the Hunter, the first film of the multipicture arrangement, will be released on January 13, 2023.
