PK is a satirical comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani as well as written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi that was released in India in 2014. Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra produced it underneath the labels Rajkumar Hirani Films as well as Vinod Chopra Films, correspondingly. The movie follows an alien on a research expedition to Earth, and then have his spaceship’s remote control stolen and sold to a godman. In his effort to reclaim the remote, he meets a television journalist and confronts religious dogmas and superstitions. In addition to Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, and Saurabh Shukla play important parts in the movie.
Following the success of 3 Idiots (2009), Hirani and Joshi began writing their next project, but after discovering similarities with the narrative of Inception (2010), they decided to shelve the idea. Later, it was redone from a new perspective and tone. During development, the movie was given the titles Talli and Ek Tha Talli before being renamed PK because the latter was too close to Ek Tha Tiger (2012). Shantanu Moitra, Ajay Atul, and Ankit Tiwari composed the movie’s music, with lyrics penned by Swanand Kirkire, Amitabh Varma, and Manoj Muntashir. The movie’s distribution rights were obtained by UTV Motion Pictures. The first Bollywood film to be shot in Belgium was PK.

At the 60th Filmfare Awards, the movie won eight nominations, winning two of them. It also won two Screen Awards as well as five Producers Guild Film Awards. PK managed to garner the Telstra People’s Choice Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. PK was the very first Indian movie to make well over $7 billion and US$100 million globally, with a budget of 850 million dollars. It was the highest-grossing Indian movie of all time there at time, and it currently ranks as that of the 70th highest-grossing picture of 2014.
