Paul John Hollywood, also known professionally as Paul Hollywood, is an English celebrity chef as well as television host who has been a jury on The Great British Bake Off since 2010.
As a youngster, Hollywood started working in his father’s bakery as well as chose to work as the chief baker at a variety of British and international hotels. Following his return from Cyprus, Hollywood made guest appearances on a variety of BBC and ITV shows in the United Kingdom. He began his broadcast career in culinary programmes before branching over into other areas, such as motorsports.
Hollywood has been born in 1966 in Wallasey, Cheshire, to John F. Hollywood and Gillian M. Hollywood, who owned a bakery. He attended The Mosslands School as a student. Hollywood studied sculpting at Liscard Hall’s Wallasey School of Art, but quit to work as just a baker. He began his career at his father’s bakery in York, then moved on to various bakeries around Merseyside. He went on to work as a head baker at several hotels, such As the Dorchester, Chester Grosvenor as well as Spa, as well as the Cliveden Hotel. He subsequently moved to Cyprus, wherein he employed at two different resorts.
Hollywood had made guest appearances on such a variety of television shows, such As the Generation Game on BBC One, The Heaven as well as Earth Show on ITV, This Morning on ITV, as Well as the Alan Titchmarsh Show on ITV. Hollywood seems to have been a judge upon that BBC show The Great British Bake Off ever since inception in 2010. Due to his clear and honest demeanour, and also the fact that his judgement is limited solely to the final product, he has indeed been dubbed the “antidote” to panelists including such Len Goodman or Simon Cowell on some other reality television shows.
His cooperation with Mary Berry has been dubbed the show’s “hidden weapon” and maybe one of the finest judging teams ever seen on reality television, according to The Guardian. Love Productions and Channel 4 agreed to something like a three-year arrangement in September 2016 to relocate the show from the BBC to Channel 4. Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, who hosted the show, declared that they’d never be joining the new network, backed by Berry. Hollywood confirmed the same day as the Berry that he’d be sticking with both the programme.
