Parghat Singh Kahlon aka Gattu / Kaali (Akshay Kumar) is living the life that his father Gurtej Singh Kahlon (Rishi Kapoor) had planned for him. Gattu was a talented cricketer who aspired to play for England, but Gurtej would never allow him to join the squad. Gurtej had already threatened him with suicide. His brothers despised him since he was the house’s model child.
Until Zeeshan and Simran (Anushka Sharma) came into his life, he was lonely and had few friends.
Gattu has another chance to realise his goal in the current day, and his siblings and Simran persuade him to take it. They believe that if Gattu joins the squad, he would understand that the world isn’t as racist as it once was. They disguise Gattu’s presence on the squad as he joins, but Gurtej ultimately discovers it. He had a heart attack after seeing his kid on a team he despises, and he finds himself in the ER. Gattu already plays cricket for his siblings.
He is greatly upset by his father’s betrayal, but he also enjoys cricket and tries to influence his father.
Southall residents band together to persuade Gurtej that it is OK to play cricket for England. He shuts himself inside the house, where his wife confesses that she has never acted as a mother, only as a wife, and that she has frequently forgotten she is both. She turns on the television, eager to watch her son realise his ambition. Sanjay Manjrekar is interviewing Gattu, who tells him how his father is proud of him. Gurtej stands there watching her, realising how terribly he has abused his son. When the family returns home, Gurtej begs that one of them drive him to the stadium. Gattu is underperforming because he is angry because Gurtej has shamed him. Gattu uses the bowling technique of former Indian cricketer Lala Amarnath to get Andrew Symonds out for England with the penultimate ball of the game. Gattu’s siblings may now pursue their aspirations when Gurtej apologises to them.
