Yes, you read that right! As popular veteran Lyricist Javed Akhtar has filed a complaint against Kangana Ranaut in the matter of defamation. As per reports, the Metropolitan Magistrate at Andheri has granted the last chance for the Manikarnika actress to appear in front of the court. The court has said clearly that it’s the last warning to Kangana, as after this chance a bailable arrest warrant will be issued if she fails to attend the next hearing in the court.
Kangana’s advocate told the court that she was not in the country and her absence on Tuesday, 27th July should be excused by the court. On the other hand, the advocate of veteran Lyricist Javed Akhtar, Mr Jay Bharadwaj opposed the exemption and sought the issuance of a bailable arrest warrant since Kangana had failed to appear on previous dates as well. The Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan came to a conclusion after hearing both sides and permitted her exemption. But also stated that if the actress Kangana Ranaut fails to be present for the next date, a bailable attest warrant will be issued against her name.
Talking about the whole incident, Javed Akhtar filed a complaint against Kangana Ranaut following an interview given by her to the news channel Republic TV last year. According to the reports being published by a leading daily, Kangana Ranaut’s statements hurt veteran artists reputation. Javed Akhtar told that his name has been dragged unnecessarily in connection to the sad demise of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He further claimed that the video interview has gained lakhs of views on the news portal’s website and also on their youtube channel. According to reports Akhtar has stated that Kangana Ranaut has committed a crime for the offence of defamation and is punishable under the Indian Penal Code.
