Members of the South Korean band APRIL have chosen to split up, as well as the group has just announced its disbandment after six years.
According to Korean tabloid Soompi, the group’s agency DSP Media made an official statement on January 28 revealing the group’s intention to breakup. “Hello, my name is DSP Media, and I’m here to help you.” The announcement began, “We are telling you that our artist APRIL has split.”
“After a long period of discussion and debate, our agency and the APRIL members decided to have the group disband and go their separate ways. We ask that you give lots of support and interest to the six members, who will be walking a new path that is not part of APRIL.” the statement read.
The statement concluded saying, “Furthermore, we would like to once again thank the fans who supported and cheered on APRIL for the past six years.”
On January 26, it was announced that RBW had bought DSP Media and will take control of the company by the end of March.
Chaekyung, Chaewon, Naeun, Yena, Rachel, and Jinsol made up the group APRIL. The band made their debut in 2015 with the release of their first EP Dreaming, which included the hit “Dream Candy.” The group’s most recent reunion was in July 2020 for the release of their special album Hello Summer.
