Rohit Shetty’s set has become a launchpad for the next wave of commercial Bollywood directors. Vidhi Ghodgaonkar, a chief assistant director, writer and longtime Shetty protégé, will make her directorial debut with Hum Tere Pyaar Mein, starring Krithi Shetty.
The project will be produced by Abhishek S Vyas under the AVS Studios banner, in association with Tudip Entertainment, Filmfare reports.
From assistant director to the director’s chair
Ghodgaonkar’s resume tracks some of Shetty’s biggest titles. She worked as an assistant director on Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Chennai Express (2013), Dilwale (2015) and Golmaal Again (2017).
That background is significant because Shetty’s films run on broad comedy, controlled chaos and star-driven set pieces. An assistant who has absorbed that system enters a debut with a built-in sense of how to serve the audience, not just the material.
Krithi Shetty’s Bollywood reset
Krithi Shetty has already proven herself in Telugu cinema with Uppena (2021), Bangarraju (2022) and Custody (2023), and she appeared in the Malayalam film Ajayante Randam Moshanam (2024). Her earlier Hindi appearance in Super 30 (2019) was a relatively small role, so this project is being seen as her full-fledged Bollywood arrival.
For an actor crossing into Hindi cinema, having a debut director trained in Shetty’s commercial factory can be the most valuable kind of safety net: the film is likely to be designed with scale, music and mass appeal in mind.

Bollywood repeatedly rewards actors who arrive with a ready-made regional fanbase, and Krithi Shetty has exactly that. The film also gives Ghodgaonkar a leading face with proven box-office traction in the South, which lowers some of the risk of a debut.
