Tiger Shroff firing: 5-6 rounds, accused ‘had another target’
Mumbai Police sources say the accused in the Tiger Shroff firing case first planned to target another Bollywood celebrity after Instagram reconnaissance.

New details in the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car are shifting the story in a darker direction. Mumbai Police sources say preliminary questioning of the arrested men suggests the 36-year-old actor may not have been the original target. The accused had travelled to Mumbai with a different Bollywood celebrity in mind, but switched after finding that person difficult to reach, investigators reportedly believe.
Five to six rounds were fired at Shroff’s car on a busy Sunday evening. He escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured. Police have registered a case of attempted murder along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
Fan reels allegedly shaped the switch
According to police sources, the accused learned about Shroff’s security arrangements through Instagram reels shared by his fans. Those videos apparently suggested he usually moved without police protection, which made him look like an easier target. They are also alleged to have tracked his movements through his own account and fan pages. The sources said the men wanted to “spread fear in the Bollywood industry” by killing the actor.
That detail is a sobering reminder of how public fan content can become operational information. The videos that fans share in excitement may reveal routines, vehicle details and security gaps that a public figure’s team cannot control.
From Mumbai to Kota: the alleged escape route
After the attack, the accused reportedly fled to Surat in Gujarat, then boarded a Jaipur-bound train. Police say the plan was to continue to New Delhi by bus and eventually escape to Nepal. Instead, they were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan. Two accused have been identified as Ritik, alias Roshan, from Begusarai in Bihar, and Rehan from Sonipat in Haryana.
- 5-6 rounds were fired at the actor’s car, police say.
- Three accused were arrested in Kota after allegedly fleeing Mumbai.
- Driver and bystander were injured; Tiger Shroff escaped relatively unhurt.
- Charges include attempted murder and provisions of the Arms Act.
Alleged gang angle remains unverified
Police are examining whether the accused have links to organised criminal networks. Rehan was reportedly in contact with Anil Pandit, described as an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang claimed responsibility in an unverified social media post. A purported audio clip, allegedly featuring Pandit, has also been circulating; in it he allegedly says Shroff was targeted over warnings related to working with Salman Khan. Mumbai Police have not verified the clip’s authenticity.
For now, the investigation is working through a checklist: establish the motive, identify the original intended celebrity, and map the wider conspiracy behind the attack.
