Tanushree Dutta Calls Nana Patekar’s Death a Positive Development

Tanushree Dutta posted a Mahakal Temple video after Nana Patekar died at 75, calling his death a positive development and reigniting her old MeToo allegation.

Tanushree Dutta Visits Mahakal Temple After Nana Patekar's Death

Nana Patekar died on October 8 at his Goa home after a cardiac arrest. He was 75. His son Malhar Patekar confirmed the news; the actor was found unconscious and taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Days after her earlier “evil dead” remark drew criticism, Tanushree Dutta returned to Instagram with a longer statement. She called the news a “positive development in my life,” even as she said she has “doubts on the authenticity of the death news.”

What Tanushree said

Dutta is seen offering prayers before the Mahakal idol. In her caption, she credits the deity with protecting her from “attacks on my life” and from “maaran kriyas” she says were done by Nana Patekar and his friends. She adds that she hopes “all the evils of my life die off one by one.”

Her words do not stop at Patekar. She also writes about the people she calls his “flying monkeys and helpers and supporters,” saying she wants “all of them gone” and that she cannot continue to absorb “their extreme negativity and persistent conspiracies.” The post is not a eulogy; it is a demand, framed as a plea to Mahakal.

The long, unfinished case

  • 2009: Dutta later alleged that Patekar harassed her on the set of Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss.
  • 2018: During India’s MeToo moment, the allegation became public and an FIR was registered.
  • 2019: The case was closed for lack of sufficient evidence.
  • 2025: A Mumbai Andheri Magistrate Court dismissed the criminal proceedings, holding the complaint was filed beyond the legal limitation period.

Patekar had denied the allegation.

Why this is already dividing fans

For many, the timing and tone of Dutta’s posts are impossible to separate from the grief of Patekar’s family and fans. For others, her anger is a reminder that legal closure — a case closed or dismissed — is not the same as emotional closure for the person who made the allegation.

That gap is the real story here. Courts close files; public memory keeps them open. Dutta has not asked for a new legal remedy in this post. She is speaking in the language of faith, consequence and finality.

What comes next is unclear. Dutta has not announced another legal step. For now, the Instagram caption is the statement, and the Mahakal Temple is its stage.
