Jason Sanjay's Sigma hits Netflix on Oct 30 in 5 languages

Jason Sanjay is stepping out of his father Thalapathy Vijay’s shadow — from behind the camera. His debut film Sigma is headed to Netflix on October 30, 2026, just four weeks after its theatrical release on October 2. The heist thriller will stream in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada, so a pan-Indian audience can watch without waiting for a separate dubbed version.

The fast OTT window

The gap between Sigma‘s cinema debut and its digital premiere is 28 days. For a Lyca Productions-backed film led by Sundeep Kishan, that’s a quick turnaround — and a sign of how tightly theatrical and streaming windows are being compressed for star-led Tamil cinema. Fans who missed it in cinemas can simply open the Netflix listing and set a reminder.

Who is in and behind Sigma

  • Director: Jason Sanjay, making his Tamil cinema debut.
  • Lead: Sundeep Kishan as Guru.
  • Key cast: Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee and Sheela Rajkumar.
  • Cameo: Catherine Tresa appears in a dance number.
  • Crew: Music by Thaman S, cinematography by Krishnan Vasant, editing by Praveen KL.

A heist built for streaming

Sigma follows Guru, a quick-witted Chennai radio jockey who secretly hunts hidden treasures. When a deal goes wrong, he is pushed into a corner and takes on an assignment to recover a hidden ledger belonging to Perumal, a powerful businessman controlling an underground network. After he is betrayed, Guru must hit Perumal where he is strongest: a heavily guarded vault beneath an elite casino.

He recruits Maya, a con artist and card player; Master, a veteran safecracker; and Dr. Hacker, a technology specialist. During a VIP gala, Maya distracts the chief enforcer at poker while Guru and Master navigate the vault. A disruption traps them inside, but Guru’s knowledge of ancient structures leads them out through a forgotten drainage tunnel. The chase spills through Chennai’s streets before the ledger brings Perumal’s empire down.

The film ends on a secluded beach, with a mysterious phone call teasing another treasure hunt. That ending feels deliberately built for franchise talk — and for streaming audiences, it gives the film a second life after the credits.

Why this debut matters

For followers of Thalapathy Vijay, Sigma is a moment of transition. Jason Sanjay has chosen a commercial heist film rather than a small-scale drama, with a known lead actor, a top composer and Lyca’s backing. It’s the kind of package that puts a first-time director straight into the OTT conversation, especially when the film lands in five languages on a platform like Netflix.

Our advice: add Sigma to your Netflix watchlist now, and if the phone-call cliffhanger pays off, keep an eye on Jason Sanjay’s next move.
