Why Shraddha Kapoor waited after Stree 2 for Eetha

Shraddha Kapoor says she passed on several offers after Stree 2, holding out for Laxman Utekar's Eetha, releasing December 4, 2026.

Why Shraddha Kapoor held out after Stree 2

After the success of Stree 2, Shraddha Kapoor had a simple choice: keep the momentum going with the next big offer, or step back and wait for a story she actually believed in. She chose the harder path.

Turning down the easy yes

In a new interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shraddha said she was offered a lot of films and money after Stree 2, but she had already decided not to sign until she found a story that felt perfect. “My heart said that I will have to keep that patience, and I did that,” she said.

The waiting was not easy, she admitted, especially when she was eager to get back on screen. But she said the feeling now is pride rather than regret. She described the decision as a lesson in trusting the “little voice in your heart,” adding that it can be difficult but is “totally worth it.”

What Eetha demanded

The wait ended with Laxman Utekar’s Eetha, a biographical musical drama that casts Shraddha as Vithabai Narayangaonkar, a legendary Marathi Tamasha and Lavani performer. The film follows her journey from rural folk stages to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, while working through the barriers she faced on the way.

  • Gender prejudice in the performance world
  • Caste barriers that shaped her path
  • Personal heartbreak behind the public success

Written by Kshitij Patwardhan and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films with Laxman Utekar and Karishma Sharma’s Kathputli Creations, the film also features Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Siddharth Jadhav. Ajay-Atul compose the music.

Why the patience matters

For fans who follow the star as much as the film, this is a peek at what happens between a blockbuster and the next release date. A quick signing spree might keep an actor visible, but Shraddha is betting that one well-chosen story can do more for long-term credibility.

Eetha is scheduled to release theatrically across India on December 4, 2026. The real test is whether that patience pays off at the box office, but Shraddha has already made her call.
