Salaar 2 Is Back on the Radar as Prabhas Celebrates
A birthday reunion between Prabhas and Prashanth Neel brings Salaar 2 back into focus, even as a packed slate keeps the sequel waiting.

Prabhas’s birthday delivered the update Salaar fans have been waiting for: Salaar 2 is not shelved, and director Prashanth Neel is expected to move into pre-production once he finishes his current film.
A reunion that does the talking
Neel met Prabhas to mark the day, and the two posed for a photograph. The Salaar team shared it with a warm note: “We can’t wait to see this DINO-mite duo back in action…Salaar 2.” Earlier, Neel’s wife Likitha Reddy also shared a picture with Prabhas, describing him as an elder brother.
The reunion carries weight because the sequel has been in limbo for a while. In May, Neel confirmed that Salaar 2 would be his next film after Dragon. But fans had grown anxious after he described Dragon as his last film in the dark, hyper-stylised action genre. That line sparked shelving rumours, and this birthday note is the clearest official pushback since.
Why the wait is still long
Dragon is now slated for June 11, 2027. Since Neel cannot begin Salaar 2 until that film wraps, the sequel’s pre-production starts late by default. On the actor’s side, Prabhas is already committed to several films.
- Fauzi: scheduled for a theatrical release in March 2027.
- Spirit: has a revised release date of October 29, 2027.
- Kalki 2: in production, with about 90% of the shoot still remaining.
That packed calendar is the real reason Salaar 2 keeps getting pushed back. It is a scheduling squeeze on both sides, not a sign that the project is in trouble.
The birthday slate keeps expanding
Prabhas’s birthday brought more than the Salaar 2 update. The Kalki 2898 AD team shared a 32-second behind-the-scenes video that opens with the words “Bhairava is back.” It shows Prabhas arriving on set in his character’s armour, with Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan also back. The footage is a sign that the sequel is active, even with most of the shoot still ahead.
The Fauzi team, meanwhile, released a new poster: a golden coin featuring Prabhas in a military uniform, surrounded by flames. It ties neatly into the film’s March 2027 slot and gives fans a visual while the longer waits continue.
What it means for Salaar fans
The takeaway is clear: Salaar 2 is alive and queued behind Dragon. But no one should expect a release date soon. The smart way to follow the story is to track Dragon’s progress, because that film will effectively unlock Salaar 2’s next phase.
For now, the birthday reunion is the strongest confirmation yet that the “DINO-mite duo” of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel still intends to return.
