Ranbir Kapoor’s Telugu speech wins Hyderabad at Ramayana event

Ranbir Kapoor switched to Telugu at the Hyderabad Ramayana event, thanking fans and joking about his pronunciation ahead of the November 5 IMAX release.

Ranbir Kapoor's Telugu speech wins Hyderabad at Ramayana event

At the Hyderabad pre-release event for Ramayana: Rise of a Legend on Monday, Ranbir Kapoor made the kind of gesture that sticks in fan videos. He moved from English to Telugu, thanked the crowd in their own language, and then undercut the moment with a smile: “I hope I have not said anything wrong.”

A Telugu thank-you, a loud cheer

Ranbir began by addressing what he called his “Telugu-speaking friends” across the world, promising to keep working for the big-screen experience. Then he switched to Telugu, telling fans that coming to Hyderabad is always special and that their love and affection are very valuable to him.

Co-star Sai Pallavi watched with a smile as the hall responded with cheers. For a pan-India film such as Ramayana, that moment is not just warmth — it is part of the launch plan.

Why Hyderabad matters for this release

The event was organised ahead of the film’s theatrical release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations is handling distribution. With Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash in the ensemble, the Telugu market is a serious box-office priority.

Ranbir also framed the epic beyond mythology. He described the Ramayana as a story that teaches how to be a good father, a good son, a loving husband and a true friend, and promised that audiences would “undoubtedly experience something extraordinary” when they watch the film.

Ramayana at a glance

  • First part opens November 5, 2026, around Diwali, in IMAX.
  • Second instalment is expected around Diwali 2027.
  • Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
  • Andhra Pradesh and Telangana distribution is with Sri Venkateswara Creations.

Praise for the team, and a softer fan moment

Ranbir credited Namit Malhotra’s vision and Nitesh Tiwari’s direction, and singled out his co-stars. He said watching Sai Pallavi on set made him feel he was looking at Goddess Sita herself, and that Ravi was the brother he never had. He also praised Yash’s work ethic, noting that the actor left his family and city behind for the film.

For Bollywood fans, the takeaway is straightforward: a Hindi film actor learning a few Telugu lines — and admitting nerves about it — can earn goodwill that a dubbed trailer alone cannot.

What this means for pan-India promotions

The regional-language moment ahead of a big release is becoming a playbook. It costs little, travels quickly in fan clips and gives local audiences a reason to feel the film was made with them in mind. The next checkpoint is whether that goodwill turns into opening-day occupancy in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on November 5.
