Ramayana: Part One Opening Day Forecast: Rs 65-75 Crore

Ramayana enters box office tracking

Pinkvilla Predicts has started tracking Ramayana: Part One ahead of its 5 November 2026 release, with a first-day estimate of Rs 65-75 crore nett. The projection assumes no paid previews; as of now, there has been no official confirmation that any are planned.

The film is being positioned as the costliest production in Indian cinema history, adapted from an epic with over a billion people invested in the story. That scale is exactly why the opening number carries so much weight, but it also explains why the audience may behave differently from a regular event film.

Why the pre-Diwali date matters

November 5 lands just before Diwali, a window that has historically been softer for box office collections. The effect has reduced over the years, but it remains visible, particularly in B, C and D centres. A film like Ramayana is expected to travel deep into those smaller markets, which means the very audience that could give the film its long run may not be the first through the doors on opening day.

Devotional films tend to collect over time. Audiences who turned up for titles such as Hanuman Ansh or Mahavtar Narsimha may add to the film’s legs rather than its first-day total, so the opening figure will lean more on metro and A-centre demand first.

What could move the estimate

  • Paid previews: not confirmed, and the Rs 65-75 crore range rests on the assumption that none happen.
  • Marketing tempo: trade watchers feel the campaign has not yet matched the size of the film.
  • The final stretch: there is still time for the promotion to go up a gear before release.

History suggests over-the-top promotion does not always translate into ticket sales, but for an event of this size, even the optics could matter. A louder final campaign could help the opening, though it may not change the film’s longer trajectory.

The smaller forecasts get their final update

This round of tracking also closes the book on Jailer 2 (Hindi), Nayi Navelli and Prahaar. Prahaar’s first-day projection has been revised upward to Rs 1.50-4 crore nett after its trailer update showed stronger commercial elements than expected. Even so, the genre has limited initial value, and the film will rely on word of mouth through the weekend.

For now, the central question is not whether Ramayana is a big film. It is whether the pre-Diwali calendar lets it open as big as its scale suggests.
