Nithiin’s Alias Rukmini Locks December 4 Release Date

Nani has announced that Nithiin's Alias Rukmini will release on December 4, and the Telugu star seems set for a quieter, female-led story.

Nithiin's Alias Rukmini arrives December 4

Nithiin’s next Telugu film is no longer just a project to watch — it has a date. Alias Rukmini will open in cinemas on December 4, 2026, with actor-producer Nani confirming the news on social media Thursday.

Nani puts the date on the calendar

Nani made the announcement in his own voice, calling it “Probably the most beautiful Telugu film of the year.” The post also tagged the film’s lead, Nithiin, along with the production and music teams including Saregama South.

A December 4 release puts Alias Rukmini in the year-end frame, a stretch where Telugu cinema often saves its most ambitious titles. For Nithiin fans, the countdown has officially started.

A change of pace for Nithiin

Recent Nithiin titles have largely played to the gallery. Robinhood and Extra leaned on commercial entertainment, while Thammudu tried to thread devotional themes through a heroic arc. Alias Rukmini appears designed as a deliberate departure.

The announcement positions the female lead at the centre of the story rather than in a supporting orbit. That creative choice immediately raises two questions for audiences: how much of the narrative belongs to her, and whether the filmmakers have kept a twist in reserve.

It also broadens Nithiin’s range. Around 24 years into his career, he has already shown he can move between registers:

  • Jayam brought him an early breakthrough.
  • Dil cemented his status.
  • Ishq and Bheeshma showed his ease with charm and sincerity.

Alias Rukmini could sit alongside those titles as a more intriguing, character-first choice in his recent slate.

Why Nani’s co-sign matters

Nani’s involvement carries weight. As a producer, he backed Court, a film that helped show Telugu audiences are ready for grounded, emotionally direct storytelling. Add Dandoraa, Committee Kurrollu and Balagam to that list, and a pattern emerges: rooted settings, fresh voices and stories that respect the audience’s intelligence are finding real traction.

Alias Rukmini is being pitched at that exact intersection — commercial appeal on one side, meaningful storytelling on the other. The film may also weave in a social theme, though the team has not yet detailed its concerns.

For fans, the practical next step is easy. Mark December 4, watch for the teaser and music drops, and pay attention to the tone the team sets in the promotional run. Nani’s endorsement has already framed the film as beautiful; now Alias Rukmini has to prove it can be substantive too.
