Nani Confirms a Love Story Is Next After Bloody Romeo

Nani says his next project after Sujeeth's Bloody Romeo is a love story meant for all audiences, a warm pivot after The Paradise.

Nani lines up a subtle, sweet love story

Nani is planning a clear tonal reset. After the upcoming action-comedy Bloody Romeo, the Telugu star has confirmed he will move to a love story he says is built for the whole family.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter India, Nani called the untitled romance “a subtle and sweet movie meant for all audiences.” He tied the choice to the fans who approach him in public: “Children are always the first to run up to me at functions or public appearances. I’m happy that I’m working on a film that even they can watch.”

A softer step after a heavy run

The timing matters. Nani is coming off The Paradise, Srikanth Odela’s tense action thriller set in the 1980s. The film follows Jadal, a young man from the Savaari tribe who reluctantly rises to lead a rebellion against a feudal landlord and his son, and it drew an underwhelming critical response. Bloody Romeo keeps Nani in a theatrical, action-driven zone before the love story arrives.

Nani described Bloody Romeo as “a very theatrical, stylish experience.” He said Sujeeth added a twist that makes it “extremely witty, combined with action.” The plot and his character remain under wraps, and reports suggest Prithviraj Sukumaran could be part of the project.

Why the love story matters

The movie is more than a change of genre. It is a classic audience-widening move: after a violent, world-heavy film, a star can follow with a smaller, warmer title that brings back family viewers. Nani is doing that deliberately, signaling that his brand remains warm and relatable.

Here is how the lineup currently shapes up, based on the conversation:

  • Bloody Romeo: a stylish action-comedy directed by Sujeeth and announced on Nani’s birthday earlier this year.
  • Untitled love story: next on the slate, described by Nani as subtle, sweet and suitable for all audiences.
  • The Paradise: his most recent release, an action thriller that received a muted critical response.
  • Speculation: reports point to a possible key role for Prithviraj Sukumaran in Bloody Romeo.

The Paradise was a large canvas: the ensemble included Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni and Raghav Juyal, with music by Anirudh Ravichander. A quieter love story offers a clear contrast in scale and mood.

Family-friendly titles also make commercial sense. They open up a wider age range and can reframe a star who has just spent two films in violent, heavily stylised worlds. Nani is not stepping away from ambition; he is expanding the audience that can walk into his next release.

The sequencing lesson

No title, cast or release window has been announced for the love story yet. What Nani has made clear is the intent: a film his youngest fans can watch, and a controlled step away from the darkness of his recent work.

For Bollywood Society readers, the takeaway is simple. If a project narrows the audience, the next one can widen it again. Nani’s slate appears to be doing exactly that.
