Mysskin’s Train starring Vijay Sethupathi locks Dec 4 release
Mysskin's Train, led by Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan, locks a December 4 theatrical release, nearly three years after it was first announced.

Mysskin’s Train finally has a date with the big screen. The Tamil feature, headlined by Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan, will open in theatres on December 4, giving a confirmed release date to a project that has been in the works for nearly three years.
A long wait turns into a December arrival
Train was first announced in November 2023 and went on floors the following month under producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s V Creations banner. Early reports had pointed to a possible 2025 release, but the makers did not confirm those reports. The banner has a long association with large-scale Tamil productions, which adds to the expectation around how Train will be mounted. With the date now locked, the film moves into its promotional runway.
Mysskin adds composer to his credits
Apart from writing and directing, Mysskin will make his debut as a music composer on Train. The filmmaker is known for morally complicated characters, crime and human behaviour, delivered through a distinctive visual language. It is a notable shift for a director whose stories often lean on atmosphere and moral tension; scoring the film gives him control of one more emotional register, from the background score to the songs.
A familiar ensemble backs the leads
While plot details are still under wraps, the cast list suggests the scale of the film. Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan headline, with a long supporting lineup of recognisable Tamil cinema faces.
- Leads: Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan.
- Supporting cast: Nasser, Yugi Sethu, Narain, KS Ravikumar, Sampath Raj, Kalaiyarasan and several more familiar faces.
- Technical crew: Fowzia Fathima on cinematography, Sri Watson on editing, Mohana Mahendran on art and Ramkumar on stunts.
The lineup also includes Shaji, Selvaah Chandrasekhar, GR Aathithyaa, Rohan, Kaniha, Janany, Diya Sharma and Komagan. That breadth points to a film built around multiple characters rather than a two-lead story.
What comes before and after
Vijay Sethupathi’s slate is crowded beyond Train. He is set to feature in Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Pocket Novel, Mani Ratnam’s Inji Vellam and Puri Jagannadh’s Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road. Mysskin will be seen as an actor in Sathyavan Savithiri, alongside Keerthy Suresh, which releases theatrically on November 20.
Why the date matters
A confirmed release date turns anticipation into a plan. For fans, Train brings together a filmmaker with a strong point of view, a lead actor known for switching between commercial and unconventional roles, and a rare composer debut. For followers of Tamil cinema, a Mysskin release is usually an event, and December 4 gives it a clear slot after Mysskin’s acting turn in Sathyavan Savithiri on November 20. Now that the date is official, the campaign is likely to start revealing more of the film itself.
