Mrunal Thakur Says Film Announcements Will Land on Social Media
Mrunal Thakur neither confirms nor denies Raaka casting rumours and says upcoming film announcements will be made on her social media soon.

Mrunal Thakur is not giving the Raaka rumour mill what it wants—at least not yet. While promoting her latest release Pooja Meri Jaan, the actor was asked directly whether she is part of Allu Arjun and Atlee’s upcoming sci-fi film. Her answer was warm, quick and deliberately open-ended.
Laughter, not confirmation
In an interview with HT City, Mrunal laughed at the casting question and said, “I like how you assume that I am doing Raaka.” She added that official film announcements will come through her social networking sites soon—moving to put “a full stop” to all the rumours.
The framing is significant. She has neither ruled herself in nor ruled herself out. Instead, she is asking fans to hold off on believing every casting report until she posts the official word.
Nine months of patience
This is not the first time she has addressed the chatter. In an earlier Mid-Day interview, Mrunal said she had not signed any film in almost nine months and was waiting for a meaningful role. Her position then was the same: whatever announcement has to happen will happen on her own social media handle.
She also explained that she would rather enjoy the process of acting than rush to a verdict on whether a project worked. For her, each film is part of a longer “live and learn” journey, not a single experiment that has to end in a conclusion.
What Raaka already has going for it
Even without clarity on this particular casting question, Raaka is already a headline magnet. The pan-India project brings Allu Arjun and Atlee together for the first time and is scheduled to arrive in 2027. Here is what fans know so far:
- Allu Arjun stars, marking his first collaboration with Tamil filmmaker Atlee.
- Deepika Padukone is also part of the lead cast.
- The film is slated for a 2027 release.
- It has set a Guinness World Record for real-time motion capture, with 37 performers participating simultaneously.
Why her non-answer is a strategy
By redirecting every casting question to her social media, Mrunal turns speculation into anticipation. For a star whose next move is being watched closely, that keeps her feed the only place where a real announcement can land. It also gives her room to choose a role that fits the meaningful, process-first approach she described, rather than being boxed into a rumour she has not signed.
For fans, the next step is simple: watch her official accounts. Until she posts, Raaka casting remains exactly what it was—a very big if.
