A South breakout star heads north

Krithi Shetty, best known for her blockbuster Telugu debut Uppena, is reportedly set to make her first Hindi film with the romantic comedy Hum Tere Pyaar Mein. The project is in development and introduces debut director Vidhi Ghodgaonkar, who previously assisted Rohit Shetty on Chennai Express, Singham and the Golmaal series.

The move also loops back neatly. Before Uppena made her an overnight name, Krithi appeared in a small, uncredited student role in Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30.

From a blockbuster start to a Bollywood reset

Krithi’s early Telugu run was strong. Uppena gave her a blockbuster launch, and she followed it with Shyam Singha Roy opposite Nani and Bangarraju, completing a trio of successful films.

The next phase was less consistent. Custody with Naga Chaitanya, Manamey with Sharwanand, Macherla Niyojakavargam with Nithiin, and The Warriorr with Ram Pothineni did not recreate that early spark.

Her slate, though, is still crowded:

  • Tamil: Vaa Vaathiyaar opposite Karthi and Love Insurance Kompany with Pradeep Ranganathan.
  • Telugu: January 12 Vidudala, reportedly with Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and directed by Anil Ravipudi.

What could shape the Hindi chapter

Krithi did not go through a formal drama school before her breakthrough. Instead, she has built her craft through acting workshops, dance classes, horse-riding lessons and action training, and she reads widely. She has often cited Aamir Khan as an influence, particularly his ability to move between distinct characters without repeating himself.

Her mother also weighs in on career decisions. The two are said to assess whether a script offers Krithi a meaningful part and something fresh for audiences. That same filter could help her navigate a new Hindi industry while she continues to build on her South Indian base.
