Jailer 2 Worldwide Gross Hits Rs 609 Crore, Eyes Kollywood Record
Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has grossed Rs 609 crore worldwide in nine days, passed Jailer's lifetime total, and could become Kollywood's all-time biggest by Sunday.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is not merely holding after its opening week; it is moving towards history. On its second Friday, the sequel added roughly Rs 16 crore across India, a fall of only 15 per cent from the previous day and a strong sign that the audience is still turning up after the holiday rush.
A second Friday that held firm
After nine days in cinemas, the film’s domestic total stands at approximately Rs 390 crore, according to trade estimates. It is expected to cross Rs 400 crore in India today. That steady hold after a long holiday period suggests the film is running on word of mouth as much as on the initial Rajinikanth wave.
Sequels rarely outpace beloved originals this comfortably, especially after a holiday window. The second-week hold matters because it shows the film is adding new viewers rather than exhausting front-loaded demand. For a star-driven commercial film, that kind of momentum is what separates a big opening from a historic run.
The bigger race: an all-time Kollywood crown
The worldwide number is the real headline. Jailer 2 has now crossed Rs 600 crore and reached about Rs 609 crore in global gross. In doing so, it has already moved past the lifetime collection of the first Jailer. It is also set to overtake Leo today.
By the end of Sunday, the film is on track to pass 2.0 and become the highest-grossing Kollywood film of all time. For Rajinikanth fans, that would turn a successful sequel into the definitive Tamil box-office benchmark.
Where the momentum is building
The state-level numbers show why the record is within reach.
- Tamil Nadu: The film grossed about Rs 6.25 crore on its second Friday, ahead of Leo’s Rs 6 crore on the same day but behind The GOAT’s Rs 7 crore. It should cross Rs 150 crore today and remains on course for Rs 200 crore.
- Karnataka: The standout market added more than Rs 3 crore on Friday, close to double what the first Jailer managed. A final total above Rs 90 crore would put it ahead of several major pan-India blockbusters, including Pushpa 2, RRR, Kalki 2898 AD and Jawan.
The Karnataka performance is particularly significant because it suggests Jailer 2 is playing as a pan-Indian release rather than a purely regional blockbuster. As with all early box-office reports, these are trade estimates, not final audited accounts. But the direction is clear: Jailer 2 is no ordinary sequel. It is outpacing the original film and now has the all-time Tamil cinema record in its sights by Sunday.
