Jailer 2 Hindi hits Rs 25.50 crore in 7 days without top chains

Jailer 2 Hindi hits Rs 25.50 crore in 7 days without top chains

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is turning a mid-week hold into a talking point. The Hindi version added Rs 2.50 crore on Wednesday, taking its seven-day cume to Rs 25.50 crore nett, according to Pinkvilla trade estimates.

The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action drama is now heading to close its extended opening week near Rs 28 crore. That follows a 45 per cent drop from the Dussehra holiday, a number trade watchers see as a strong signal for a Tamil-dubbed film.

A hold that matters

What makes the number stand out is where the film is not playing. Jailer 2 did this without releasing in the top national chains, which usually power a big Hindi opening. As Pinkvilla put it, that is a “phenomenal hold for a Tamil-dubbed movie, that too without releasing in the top national chains.”

Had Jailer 2 received a full-fledged release, the trade estimates its first week would have been around Rs 40 crore. Instead, the limited screen plan still yielded a possible Rs 28 crore week.

The math behind a limited release

When a film skips top national chains, it leaves the biggest multiplex screens out of the first-week equation. That ordinarily caps a Hindi version’s urban reach and makes every crore depend on single screens and non-national chains. Jailer 2 staying this steady under those conditions shows Rajinikanth’s pull is doing the heavy lifting.

A full release, by comparison, would have added around Rs 12 crore more to the opening week. That gap is less about the film’s quality and more about the number of premium shows available.

Why this week matters

The plot is built for mass appeal. Jailer 2 is set three months after the first instalment, with Rajinikanth’s Muthuvel Pandian living a quiet family life while secretly infiltrating a dangerous idol trade network run by the Kalpak family. When his identity is exposed, the story becomes a fight to protect his loved ones. That straightforward action-drama hook has kept the film moving in Hindi belts.

Trade expectations now point to a Rs 50 to 60 crore lifetime run in Hindi if the trend continues. That window runs until the next big release, Ramayana, arrives to grab screens.

The week so far, at a glance:

  • Wednesday: Rs 2.50 crore
  • 7-day Hindi cume: Rs 25.50 crore nett
  • Projected first week: Rs 28 crore
  • Potential full run: Rs 50-60 crore

What to do before Ramayana

If you have not caught Jailer 2 yet, the next couple of weeks are the safest window before Ramayana changes the box-office calendar. It is a chance to watch a Rajinikanth spectacle while it still has screens. Just remember that these figures are trade estimates, not final certified numbers.
