Gunmaaster G9’s Dard E Dil Builds on 300M Views
Himesh Reshammiya follows two 300M-view hits with the romantic Dard E Dil from Gunmaaster G9, starring Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh.
Gunmaaster G9 is adding a softer beat to its action-heavy world. The film’s new track Dard E Dil pairs Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh in a romantic melody, with Himesh Reshammiya and Akasa Singh sharing vocal duties and lyrics by Sonia Kapoor Reshammiya.
After two blockbuster songs, a change of pace
The release follows Afsaana Banaaya Aapne and Do Do Din Ki Zindagi, which Himesh says have collectively crossed 300 million views across platforms, including more than 150 million views on his YouTube channel, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies. That momentum gives Dard E Dil a built-in audience and makes the romantic turn feel like a deliberate widening of the film’s music rather than a detour.
Himesh calls the number “a song that is particularly close to my heart,” and points to the vibrant composition and Sonia’s poetic lyrics as the reasons. For a film preparing for a worldwide theatrical run, the song does real work: it gives Emraan and Genelia’s pairing an emotional centre that sits alongside the action.
Why the hook line lands personally
Director Aditya Datt says the track is extra special because its mukhda and hook line have a family echo. They remind him of his grandfather, the legendary lyricist Anand Bakshi, and the classic Dard-E-Dil Dard-E-Jigar from Karz. He is quick to note that this is an entirely different song and composition; it is the emotional connection that matters to him.
Producer Deepak Mukut describes the melody as “warm and heartfelt,” adding that it gives the film’s central pairing its own musical high.
