Farah Khan’s throwback BTS photos spark a guess-the-film game
Farah Khan shared rare behind-the-scenes photos with Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Manisha Koirala, asking fans to guess the films.

Farah Khan just turned her camera roll into a Bollywood guessing game. The filmmaker-choreographer shared a carousel of rare behind-the-scenes photographs on Instagram and asked followers to identify the films in each frame.
Her playful caption set the tone: “Some blasts from the past!” She added that the photos themselves were the clues.
The photos that sent fans guessing
The throwback set moves across different stages of Farah’s career. One photo shows Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta in a candid behind-the-scenes moment, apparently from the 2000 romantic musical Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega. Farah choreographed the film’s songs, including the popular track ‘Piya Piya’.
Another image goes further back to 1942: A Love Story, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1994 period romance, where Farah is seen with Manisha Koirala. The film marked an important chapter in her early work as a choreographer.
- Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega (2000): Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta; Farah choreographed ‘Piya Piya’.
- 1942: A Love Story (1994): Manisha Koirala; an early choreography milestone.
- Main Hoon Na (2004): Geeta Kapur during ‘Gori Gori’, plus Darjeeling’s St. Paul’s School portions.
- Om Shanti Om (2007): The Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer that recreated Bollywood across eras.
Farah also revisited Main Hoon Na, her 2004 directorial debut starring Shah Rukh Khan. One picture features choreographer Geeta Kapur while ‘Gori Gori’ was being made. Another, taken in Darjeeling, shows Farah with her team during the filming of the St. Paul’s School sequences.
The collection also includes a memory from Om Shanti Om, her 2007 directorial that starred Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone and recreated the Hindi film industry across different eras.
Why the nostalgia lands
This is more than a photo dump. The images trace Farah’s path from one of Hindi cinema’s busiest choreographers to the director of films such as Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.
The quiz format gives fans a reason to slow down and engage. Rather than simply liking a post, followers study the costumes, sets and co-stars, then leave their guesses in the comments. The result is a comment section full of viewers reminiscing about the films and the era around Farah’s work.
For an audience that grew up with these films, the post works as a shared time capsule. It connects a stretch of Hindi cinema from 1994 to 2007, and it brings Rani, Preity, Manisha, Shah Rukh and Deepika back into one conversation. It is also a reminder of how much the visual language of late 1990s and 2000s Bollywood still shapes fan memory, without the need for any new footage.
How to play along
You do not need an invite. Open the carousel, look for the visual clues and match each frame to its film. If you spot ‘Piya Piya’, the Darjeeling school location or the Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om looks, drop your guess in the comments.
