Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat 2: Sequel talks begin after a year
Milap Zaveri confirms Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat 2 is being discussed with Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa a year after the sleeper hit released.

A year after Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat became a slow-burning romantic hit, writer-director Milap Zaveri has confirmed that a sequel is more than fan chatter. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama as the film marked its first anniversary on October 21, he said the core team has already discussed Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat 2.
The group includes producer Anshul Garg, leads Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, and writer Raghav Sharma.
The demand is still running hot
Zaveri pointed to how the film continues to live on social media. “On social media, the film is still viral. Thousands of Reels are made on the film even today,” he said. “If I put up any post, I instantly get comments from people asking for Deewaniyat 2.”
His caveat is timing. “There’s an intention and passion to make Part 2 at some point,” he added. “When the time is right and magic has to happen, things automatically fall into place.”
Why the first film means so much
The sequel chatter matters because the original earned its place through word of mouth. Zaveri recalled the pace: he met Anshul Garg on April 4, 2025, and the film went on floors only 13 days later. “You need a producer with jigra to pull it off,” he said.
After the film, Zaveri had two releases, Mastiii 4 (2025) and Tera Yaar Hoon Main (2026), that did not make a mark. He said the continuing love for Deewaniyat has been a shield, giving him respect and protection, and reinforcing that intense romance is a genre he is trusted with.
Next: an untitled intense romance with Aditya Roy Kapur
Zaveri also confirmed that his next film, an intense love story with Aditya Roy Kapur, will start shooting this year. The leading lady and title have not been announced yet, but he expects both to be revealed before his birthday on November 14.
He credited Bhushan Kumar for pushing him toward the genre. “He told me, ‘You’re so good at intense romance. So, let’s make an intense, powerful love story’,” Zaveri said. He added that Shaad Randhawa is part of the supporting cast.
Here is the current picture for fans:
- Sequel status: Discussions confirmed, but no formal green light yet.
- Cast in talks: Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa.
- Production memory: The first film went on floors 13 days after Zaveri met the producer.
- Next milestone: The title and leading lady of his Aditya Roy Kapur romance are expected before November 14.
For fans, the takeaway is simple: the team wants a sequel and has discussed it, but the timeline depends on everything falling into place. The next clear date to circle is November 14, when Zaveri expects the title and leading lady of his next film to be out.
