Drishyam 3 crosses ₹303 crore worldwide despite Monday drop
Drishyam 3 crossed ₹303 crore worldwide after a 65% Monday fall, driven by a record opening weekend for Ajay Devgn and strong praise for its writing.

Drishyam 3 has crossed the ₹300 crore worldwide mark in its first four days, even with the expected Monday slowdown. The Ajay Devgn-led thriller added ₹21 crore in India on Monday, a near 65% fall from Sunday’s ₹61 crore, but the opening weekend had already done the heavy lifting.
Box office at a glance
- Friday (opening day): ₹62 crore
- Saturday: ₹53.50 crore
- Sunday: ₹61 crore
- Monday: ₹21 crore
By the close of Monday, the India net total stood at ₹197.50 crore and India gross reached ₹237 crore. Overseas contributed ₹5 crore on Monday, taking the worldwide gross to ₹303 crore.
Why the opening weekend matters
The ₹62 crore opening is Ajay Devgn’s biggest opener and the third-highest opening for a Hindi film, behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge. It also landed ahead of the opening collections of Pathaan, Animal and Dhurandhar, which gives the film room to absorb a normal Monday dip.
The writer’s tightrope
Fans have been especially vocal about the writing and the ending. Screenwriter Aamil Keeyan Khan told Free Press Journal that he wrote well over 100 drafts. “It was an enormous mountain to climb,” Khan said. The challenge, he explained, was to surprise the audience for a third time while keeping the franchise’s balance of humour, family, emotion, drama and thrills intact.
The ensemble behind the third outing
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj join the franchise in its third chapter.
What comes next
The weekday run is now the test. A 65% Monday fall is the kind of correction most films see after a blockbuster weekend, but the next few days will reveal whether word of mouth carries Drishyam 3 into a long-distance blockbuster run or leaves it as a front-loaded milestone.
