Apeksha Porwal on Rajinikanth’s Warmth and Jailer 2 Break

Apeksha Porwal reveals how her katana videos landed her Jailer 2, Rajinikanth's daily 'Good morning' to the crew, and her first shot with Mithun Chakraborty.

Apeksha Porwal on Rajinikanth's Warmth and Her Jailer 2 Break

As Jailer 2 continues its strong run, one of the new faces fans are asking about is Apeksha Porwal. She joins the film’s climax as part of a squad that backs Rajinikanth and Hrithik Roshan in taking down the antagonists, and her behind-the-scenes account shows how a very specific skill set opened the door.

From katana clips to Chennai

Apeksha was not just another audition story. She has trained in martial arts for the past couple of years, including katana sword work, nunchucks and kickboxing. When someone on the Jailer 2 team came across her katana videos, they reached out. A meeting with director Nelson in Chennai followed, and the confirmation call sealed the role.

Even she needed a moment to believe it. She told Bollywood Hungama that the offer initially felt too good to be true, and only after speaking with the team did it feel real.

Rajinikanth’s small, steady gesture

Her first day on set was the climax action block, with Ramya Krishnan, S J Suryah and Vidya Balan also present. Apeksha admitted she kept to herself at first, unsure whether she could approach the superstar.

She did not have to. “Every time he would walk past, he would smile and say ‘Good morning’,” she said, adding that Rajinikanth offered the same respect to the entire crew. For her, that warmth said more about his stardom than any larger-than-life moment on screen.

  • She landed the role after the team found her katana training videos
  • She watched the film twice: once solo on opening day, once with friends at a single screen
  • Her first shot involved knocking a gun out of Mithun Chakraborty’s hand

Hrithik, Mithun and a first shot to remember

Working with Hrithik Roshan, she found an actor who is focused and knows exactly what a shot needs. She described him as a director’s actor who collaborated closely with Nelson, and kind between takes. With Ramya Krishnan, Apeksha fangirled a little: as a huge Baahubali fan, she spoke with the actor for at least 15-20 minutes.

Then came Mithun Chakraborty. Her very first shot required her to knock a gun from his hand. “I was like, ‘Oh my God! This is how I am starting!'”, she recalled with a laugh.

What comes next

Apeksha’s answer about screen time was telling. Fans wanted more of her group, and she called it nice to leave the audience wanting more. As for the sequel tease at the end of Jailer 2, she stayed quiet, saying she cannot comment right now. The practical next step is already in motion: she is shooting two Hindi films, both in lead roles, and says the door is now open.
