Ramayana Part One Nears Rs 180 Crore In 3 Days
Early estimates show the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash epic jumped 45-50% on Saturday, but South capacity issues and Diwali timing tempered the growth.

Ramayana Part One is doing what an event film is supposed to do in its first weekend: accelerate. Early trade estimates for Saturday indicate an India-wide collection of around Rs 68 crore nett, a jump of 45–50 per cent over Friday. If the number holds, the three-day total will sit just under Rs 180 crore nett.
The split is instructive. The Hindi version is leading with roughly Rs 50 crore nett, while the South-dubbed versions are contributing about Rs 18 crore nett. Both segments are growing at a similar pace, but they are being held back by different factors.
Where the growth is coming from
Hindi centres had the audience, but Diwali festivities dampened the morning momentum. In the South, the challenge was the opposite: demand outstripped supply. Pinkvilla reports capacity issues in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Bengaluru, with Chennai virtually sold out from the evening for both the Hindi and Tamil versions.
That is an important distinction. A capacity problem is a good problem for a film, because it suggests the ceiling has not been reached. Advance bookings for Sunday are already filling up, which points to spillover demand rather than a one-day spike.
- Saturday India: approx Rs 68 crore nett
- Hindi version: approx Rs 50 crore nett
- South-dubbed versions: approx Rs 18 crore nett
- Three-day total: just under Rs 180 crore nett
Overseas is stealing the show
The international story is even bigger. In the United Kingdom, Ramayana Part One is on course to shatter the all-time single-day record for an Indian film, with collections tracking above GBP 700,000 and possibly as high as GBP 800,000. That is more than double Friday’s pace.
The UAE, which underperformed in the first two days, has also improved. North American presales remain super strong. Combined, the overseas Saturday is projected at USD 6.5 million plus, with a chance of touching USD 7 million.
For context, that is outstanding for an Indian release, especially on a Saturday that is not a holiday in every major market. It also underlines that the film is not leaning only on the Hindi belt: the dubbed versions and the diaspora are doing heavy lifting.
The Monday test
Weekend growth is expected for an event film. The real signal will come on Monday. Pinkvilla notes that the wait is to see whether the spillover scenes repeat in Hindi centres. A stable Monday would turn a strong festive weekend into a longer theatrical run.
There is also a reporting detail worth knowing: the figures quoted are inclusive of 3D charges. The older norm was to exclude them, and the trade is treating Ramayana Part One as the film that may anchor the shift. Anyone comparing these numbers with older blockbusters should adjust for that.
