Ayushmann Khurrana Faces Extortion Threat Demanding Crores

Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly become the latest Bollywood name to receive an extortion threat. According to a report by Aaj Tak cited by Bollywood Hungama, the actor received an audio message in which the sender allegedly claimed links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded crores of rupees.

Police are verifying the audio

Mumbai Police are now examining the message and trying to establish the sender’s identity, the report adds. Investigators are cross-referencing the voice with samples already available in police records to check whether the threat is genuine.

Ayushmann has not issued a statement or responded publicly so far.

A troubling pattern in the film industry

The threat follows a string of similar reports involving entertainment personalities.

  • Tusshar Kapoor reportedly received a threatening audio message in the name of an individual called "Harry Boxer"; preliminary investigation suggested it may have been a hoax.
  • Police have also stepped up efforts after gunfire was directed at Tiger Shroff, with authorities working to identify the people and gangs behind extortion messages.

Investigators are expected to determine whether these incidents are connected or separate cases.

Why this matters for fans

For fans, the news is a reminder that star security has become a bigger conversation in Bollywood. Threats and extortion attempts against public figures can affect filming schedules, public appearances and the general mood around a release. It is also wise to wait for the police investigation before drawing conclusions: in Tusshar Kapoor’s case, early reports pointed to a possible hoax.

Ayushmann was last seen in Udta Teer with Sara Ali Khan, produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain. The comedy, directed by Akash A Kaushik, put him in the middle of an espionage story gone wrong.
