South Indian cinema is giving audiences plenty of reasons to head to the nearest multiplex this week. Seven titles are arriving in theatres between November 5 and November 6, 2026, spanning action comedy, mythology, a kids’ drama, an action thriller, family drama, a Kannada social drama and a devotional fantasy. If you are planning a weekend outing, the lineup makes it easy to pick by language and mood.

The seven releases at a glance

Most of the slate opens on Thursday, November 6. The major exception is Ramayana: Part 1, the dubbed version of Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic, which arrives a day earlier on November 5 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

  • Scene — Tamil action comedy, releasing November 6. Suriya, Naslen and Nazriya Nazim Fahadh lead Jithu Madhavan’s story of a sharp officer who leaves the force and faces a villain who can match his intellect.
  • Ramayana: Part 1 (dub) — Mythological epic, releasing November 5 in four languages. Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi and Sunny Deol feature in the retelling of Rama’s exile and the battle that follows Sita’s abduction.
  • Bhavantara — Kannada drama, releasing November 6. Karthik Sharma directs and stars with Tanvi Rao and Pranav Sridhar in a story of transition, identity and changing relationships.
  • Summer Holidays — Telugu kids drama, releasing November 6. A city boy’s summer of 2000 in a Godavari village leads to friendship with a local paper boy and rural adventures.
  • Disco — Malayalam action thriller, releasing November 6. Antony Varghese Pepe and Arjun Ashokan feature in a story about quick money dragging friends into an underground mystery.
  • Appa Kutty — Tamil family drama, releasing November 6. Vijay Antony plays a father pushed into conflict to protect his daughter.
  • Mookuthi Amman 2 — Tamil devotional fantasy, releasing November 6. Nayanthara returns as Mookuthi Amman in a two-timeline story that connects ancient battles with a timid policewoman’s discovery of her identity as Mahasakthi.

Why this week stands out

This is not a single-genre release window. Fans can move from Ranbir Kapoor and Yash in a pan-Indian mythological epic to Suriya’s star-led action comedy, and then to a Nayanthara-fronted devotional fantasy on the same weekend. The language spread also matters: Tamil leads with three titles, while Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada each get at least one new theatrical option, and Ramayana reaches four language audiences through its dubbed version.

For families, Summer Holidays and Appa Kutty offer gentler choices. For viewers who want something darker or grittier, Disco and Bhavantara broaden the slate. The mix is a reminder that South Indian theatrical release calendars are increasingly programming for multiple audiences at once, not just the biggest mass films.

Your booking plan

If you are choosing one film this week, start with Ramayana: Part 1 if you want a big-screen spectacle and do not want to wait past Wednesday, since it opens a day before the rest. Scene is the pick for star power and lighter action-comedy energy. Mookuthi Amman 2 is the choice for Nayanthara fans and devotional fantasy. Book early where possible, because a seven-film Friday means showtimes may be split across screens and evening slots can fill quickly.
