Ranbir Kapoor Names Raha His Diya as She Turns 4

Ahead of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, Ranbir Kapoor tells BBC Asian Network that daughter Raha is the diya of his life as she turns four.

Ranbir Kapoor calls Raha his diya as she turns 4

Days before Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opens in theatres, Ranbir Kapoor is focusing on a smaller, more personal milestone: daughter Raha Kapoor’s fourth birthday.

Speaking with BBC Asian Network alongside Sai Pallavi, the actor was asked about the diya that lights up his life this festive season. His answer did not involve the big screen at all — it was all about home.

A father’s answer, not a film pitch

‘For me, it’s (the diya) definitely my daughter (Raha Kapoor). It’s her fourth Diwali,’ Ranbir said. He added that Raha’s birthday falls on November 6, two days before Diwali on November 8, and that he hopes she receives ‘a lot of blessings, good vibes, and positivity.’

The remark lands at a busy moment. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend releases on November 5, a day before Raha turns four, while Diwali follows on November 8. The calendar gives fans a packed week:

  • November 5: Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opens globally.
  • November 6: Raha Kapoor turns 4.
  • November 8: Diwali is celebrated.

Sai Pallavi turns the spotlight outward

In the same conversation, Sai Pallavi redirected attention to the people behind the epic. She described herself and Ranbir as ‘just the faces of the film,’ and gave a shout-out to the assistant directors, the costume team and everyone who worked on Ramayana.

Why this matters for fans

The quote arrives as advance booking numbers enter record territory for one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious releases. Ranbir has been travelling to promote the film, but his family remains the emotional anchor: the conversation lands as Raha marks her fourth Diwali and fourth birthday in the middle of a blockbuster week.

A related family moment has already made headlines, with Alia Bhatt and Raha recently enjoying a holiday in Goa as the Ramayana promotions continue. For viewers, the takeaway is clear — even at the centre of a career-defining spectacle, Ranbir is choosing to lead with fatherhood.
