Ramayana advance booking crosses ₹105 crore before release
Ramayana pre-sales hit ₹105 crore worldwide two days before its November 5 release, powered by premium formats and overseas demand.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is walking into its November 5 release with a rare advantage: ₹105 crore in worldwide advance bookings, two days before the first show. India has contributed ₹58 crore in gross pre-sales, while overseas markets have added $5 million, including more than $1.5 million for paid previews in North America alone.
That puts the film in a very small club. Only a handful of Indian releases, including Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa 2 and Dhurandhar 2, have crossed the ₹100-crore mark in advance sales. Ramayana is now tracking towards a top-5 all-time opening day.
Why the surge arrived late
Bookings opened on Dussehra, 15 full days before release. After a strong first day, the pace flattened for about ten days because only the Hindi version had many shows available. The delay was not star power or interest; it was distribution math. Dharma Productions was in talks with exhibitors over a higher revenue share for the Hindi market.
Once that negotiation ended last Friday, screens unlocked quickly. More than 1,500 screens were added in the last 24 hours alone, taking the total past 5,000. The Indian pre-sales book alone added over ₹20 crore in the same window.
The weekend, not just the opening day, is filling up
The most encouraging detail for the makers is that demand is spread across the whole weekend, not only the first day.
- Opening-day gross pre-sales in India: ₹27 crore
- Day two and day three combined: ₹25 crore
- Tickets sold across India: almost 15 lakh
- Premium formats: one-fourth of sales from 4% of screens
Premium formats, including IMAX, are punching far above their screen count. That suggests audiences are treating the film as an event and willing to pay more for a large-format seat.
What comes next
North America will host paid previews on November 4, a day before the wide release. The film is planned as a two-part saga, with the second instalment set for Diwali 2027. It will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with a worldwide IMAX release and Sony Pictures handling distribution outside India.
For fans, the practical move is simple: premium-format seats for the opening weekend are disappearing quickly. If you want that IMAX ticket, this is the moment to lock it in.
