Ranbir Kapoor’s God prescription quip for Sai Pallavi on KBC 18

Sai Pallavi told Amitabh Bachchan God destined her to act. Ranbir Kapoor added a 'God's prescription' quip on KBC 18 before Ramayana's Nov 5 release.

Ranbir Kapoor's God prescription quip for Sai Pallavi on KBC 18

Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 is turning into a warm, funny stop for the Ramayana team. The special episodes, airing October 29 and 30, bring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey to Amitabh Bachchan’s hot seat — and one exchange about Sai Pallavi’s abandoned medical career is already doing the rounds online.

Doctor’s degree, actor’s destiny

Before she became an actor, Sai Pallavi completed her MBBS and chose not to practise medicine. Her breakthrough came with the Malayalam hit Premam. In the KBC 18 promo, Bachchan asked the obvious question: she studied to become a doctor, so how did she end up in cinema?

Sai Pallavi’s answer was simple and spiritual. As she put it, “God wrote it that you act.” The host looked momentarily puzzled, and that was the cue for Ranbir Kapoor to supply the punchline.

“Bhagwan ka prescription tha Sir that she has to act,” he said, as the audience cheered.

It is a classic KBC moment: a personal career story, a legendary host, and a co-star who knows exactly when to lighten the room.

Why this stop matters for Ramayana

The quiz-show appearance works as more than a fun clip. It is part of a carefully timed promotional push ahead of Ramayana’s worldwide release on November 5, days before Diwali. The team has already travelled to Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai to build momentum.

  • KBC 18 episodes: October 29 and 30.
  • Ramayana release: November 5, 2026, worldwide.
  • Franchise plan: two parts, with the second expected around Diwali 2027.

The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and is reportedly mounted on a budget of ₹4,000 crore. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, with Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal and Vivek Oberoi in key roles.

The bigger promotional picture

For a project this size, KBC makes strategic sense. The show runs on a family-oriented television format built on personal stories, which aligns with Ramayana’s emotional and festive positioning. A two-day telecast gives the cast a prime-time window to reach family viewers in the run-up to Diwali, when Indian theatrical footfall typically rises. It also lets the stars show warmth and chemistry before audiences meet them in their mythological roles.

Sai Pallavi on playing Sita Maa

In another promo, Sai Pallavi explained how she approached the role of Sita. She said she did not want to overanalyse the character this time. Instead of asking only what she could give to Sita Maa, she asked what she could gain from playing a role like that — what knowledge and change the experience might offer. She said she prayed to Sita Maa and tried to keep the process transparent.

That blend of reverence and lightness is giving the Ramayana campaign a human touch before the spectacle arrives. Fans can circle two dates first: October 29 and 30 for the KBC special, then November 5 for the film itself.
