Ayushmann and Tahira Open Diwali in Contrasting Ethnic Looks
Ayushmann and Tahira dropped an early festive portrait—his black bandhgala, her champagne-gold lehenga—with a Sooraj Barjatya release next on 27 November.

Diwali arrived a little early on Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap’s Instagram this week. The couple shared a joint festive portrait, and their caption set the warm, loved-up tone: for them, the end of October and early November is “full of butterflies.”
A shared celebration, two separate style codes
The backdrop was floral, but the real statement was in the styling. Ayushmann kept his look grounded in black: a bandhgala kurta with sequin embroidery along the placket, straight-leg black trousers and formal shoes. A sheer organza wrap, finished with gold-toned tassels, added a quiet festive lift without breaking the dark palette.
Tahira went in the opposite direction. Her champagne-gold lehenga paired a heavily embellished sleeveless choli with an A-line skirt detailed in mirror-work borders and fine sequins. A matching sheer dupatta, statement drop earrings and a cocktail ring finished the look, alongside soft brushed-out waves.
Why the pairing works
This is a useful festive styling study. Instead of dressing identically, the couple divided the brief: one person supplied the dark tailoring and restraint, the other supplied metallic shine and occasion wear. The result feels coordinated without tipping into costume, and it photographs well precisely because the two outfits don’t compete. Contrast gives the eye two clear anchors, while shared festive cues like gold trim keep the frame coherent.
It also fits the couple’s wider Diwali rhythm. Their recent at-home bash brought Sara Ali Khan, Karan Johar, Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani under one roof, so their festive hosting is already an industry talking point.
Take one styling cue for your own celebration
If you’re putting together a festive look this season, the formula is simple: choose one focal point and let everything else stay quiet. For Ayushmann, that was the sequinned placket and organza wrap. For Tahira, it was the mirror-work skirt and metallic dupatta. Heavy embellishment reads better when the silhouette, hair and accessories don’t fight for attention.
What’s next for Ayushmann
- Udta Teer — the recently released Aakash Kaushik comedy caper where a Pakistani spy loses his memory after a blast and believes he is an Indian Counter Terrorism Squad officer; Sara Ali Khan, Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor and the late Mukul Dev co-star.
- Yeh Prem Mol Liya — the Sooraj Barjatya family drama with Sharvari, Anupam Kher, Seema Pahwa and Supriya Pathak opens in cinemas on 27 November 2026.
