Sai Pallavi prayed to Sita Maa before Ramayana role
On Kaun Banega Crorepati, Sai Pallavi explained she approached Sita Maa with prayer, not calculation, ahead of Ramayana's Nov 5 release.

When a part is as enormous as Sita Maa, most actors describe preparation. Sai Pallavi described something closer to surrender.
On the Diwali special of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, the Ramayana star told Amitabh Bachchan that she deliberately kept calculation out of her process. Asked what came to mind when she was offered the role, she said she usually thinks about what she can give a character. This time, she said, the question flipped: what could she gain in knowledge?
“I didn’t want to use my head this time… I prayed to Sita Maa and went forward with it.”
The line comes from the KBC stage, where Sai Pallavi appeared with Ranbir Kapoor and Ravie Dubey to promote Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part adaptation of the Hindu epic. Her framing was a small window into how the film’s actors are shouldering its mythology.
A Diwali special with a memory to match
The episode is built around the festival. Promo clips show the three actors entering to dancers and chants of “Jai Shri Ram”, before the conversation turns lighter. When Ranbir asked Amitabh Bachchan for a childhood Diwali memory, the veteran actor answered with a competitive crack: “Diwali ki ek he yaad hai, ki agar bagal vale ke yaha bomb fata hai, toh humara bomb usse zyada tez hona chahiye.”
The line made Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey burst out laughing. It is the kind of warm, festival-table moment KBC does well, and it gives Ramayana a broad family-stage push before its release. The Diwali special airs on October 29 and 30 at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV.
What Ramayana is bringing to the big screen
The film has assembled an ensemble that spans generations of Hindi cinema:
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Yash as Ravana
- Ravie Dubey as Lakshman
- Sunny Deol as Hanuman, with Arun Govil as Dasharath and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi
Nitesh Tiwari directs the two-part cinematic adaptation, which is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The first instalment is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026.
With the film opening less than a week after the Diwali special, this KBC appearance is the final big family-audience moment before release. For fans, Sai Pallavi’s answer may linger the longest: in her telling, Sita Maa was not a role to be performed, but a role to be received.
