Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar Review: Witty Rom-Com Earns 3/5 Stars
PINKVILLA rates Luv Ranjan's new rom-com 3/5 stars. Six fresh faces, three love tracks and a Rajkummar Rao cameo make it a breezy, lighthearted watch.

A reunion with a second-chance premise
Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar follows three friends and flatmates in Delhi-NCR who are tired of their jobs and their single status. Gautam Govind Sharma (Sparsh Walia), Vedant Rawat (Kunal Vaid) and Shivi Pradhan (Sargun Kaur Luthra) decide to attend a school reunion in Mussoorie after learning that their old crushes will be there too.
That setup opens into three separate romantic tracks. Gautam hopes to win over Gehna Gundecha (Alisha Chopra), Vedant is interested in Simran Sandhu (Sakshi Vaidya), and Shivi has her eyes on Karan Shergill (Tushar Chhibber). The review notes that the familiar premise still finds room for surprise in the second half.
What works and what slips
The film’s strengths are its breezy pace, relatable situations and occasional laugh-out-loud moments. The dialogues by Luv Ranjan, Jehan Handa and Anuj Saini bring humour and energy to ordinary romantic scenes, and director Anuj Saini keeps the story accessible.
Rochak Kohli’s music fits the youthful tone, with Zulmi called a catchy number and Kamaal standing out for its choreography. The locations, costumes and editing add polish, while the unexpected turns in the second half keep the story from becoming fully predictable.
The review also flags a few rough patches. Some developments feel abrupt, and a few emotional motivations could have been established more convincingly. Gehna’s possessiveness and Vedant’s harsh treatment of Simran are called out as moments that needed more thoughtful writing and resolution.
Verdict: a light one-time watch
PINKVILLA gives the film a 3 out of 5 rating. The six leads deliver likeable performances that suit the film’s young, easygoing vibe, even when the writing falters. Rajkummar Rao’s special appearance is also highlighted as a welcome burst of energy.
The review concludes that Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar does not reinvent the romantic comedy, but it has enough witty dialogue, catchy music and lighthearted charm to work for viewers who want a relaxed entertainer.
