Udta Teer Opens at ₹4.10 Crore, Edges Past Pati Patni Aur Woh Do
Udta Teer collected ₹4.10 crore net on day one, with night shows climbing to 25% occupancy. It edged past Pati Patni Aur Woh Do and older openers.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer opened at ₹4.10 crore net in India on Friday, a modest first-day total that still nudged past the actor’s previous 2026 release.
A quiet start, then a night-show bump
The Aakash Kaushik directorial played across 6,265 shows, according to Sacnilk data reported by Hindustan Times. Overall occupancy stood at 13% for the day, but the night shows climbed to 25%, a signal that evening audiences were more willing to turn up after mixed early reviews.
That late-day momentum matters for a star-led comedy, because a softer afternoon can still convert into a healthier weekend if the night shows hold through Saturday and Sunday.
How the opening compares
Udta Teer narrowly beat Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, Ayushmann’s previous release, which opened at around ₹4 crore net. It also landed ahead of Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (₹3.75 crore) and Doctor G (₹3.87 crore).
- Udta Teer: ₹4.10 crore day one
- Pati Patni Aur Woh Do: about ₹4 crore day one
- Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui: ₹3.75 crore day one
- Doctor G: ₹3.87 crore day one
- Thamma, his highest opener: ₹23 crore day one
In the same market, holdover titles Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar collected ₹60 lakh each on their eighth day, with drops of 50% and 60% respectively. Udta Teer easily pulled ahead of both, though the larger question is whether it can build over the weekend instead of simply leading a quiet field.
What the film is working with
Udta Teer marks Aakash Kaushik’s directorial debut. It is backed by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Alongside Ayushmann and Sara, the cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Suhail Nayyar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Brijendra Kala and Sandeep Anand.
Hindustan Times gave the film 3.5 stars and wrote that its first half “delivers the laughs without resorting to cheap tricks,” while noting the second half could have held on for longer.
Why the weekend matters
With holdover competition modest and night shows already improving, Udta Teer has a narrow window to turn a quiet opening into a decent weekend total. The first Saturday and Sunday will show whether early word-of-mouth, even mixed, can push the film beyond a routine first-day number.
