Ramayana Sells 54,000 Opening-Day Tickets Before Full Advance Opens
Ramayana crosses 54,000 opening-day tickets at PVR Inox and Cinepolis before full advance opens; Pinkvilla predicts a Rs 75 crore Hindi opening.

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s Ramayana has started selling tickets before the full release plan has even opened. By 1 PM on Friday, October 23, the Nitesh Tiwari-directed epic had crossed 54,000 opening-day admissions at India’s national multiplex chains, according to trade tracking shared by Pinkvilla.
Where the 54,000 tickets are coming from
Multiplex chains are doing the heavy lifting early. Around 46,000 tickets have been sold at PVR Inox and around 8,000 at Cinepolis. That gives the film a combined 54,000 opening-day pre-sales at national chains with 12 days still to go before release.
Here is the striking part: Ramayana’s advance booking has not opened across non-national chains, single screens, or South Indian markets. Those segments typically add a large share of opening-day sales for a pan-India event film, which means the current number is only a partial picture.
A record-level pace for Hindi cinema
This is the kind of early momentum that box-office watchers use to flag a historic opening. Pinkvilla reports that the film is on track to storm toward one of the highest Hindi pre-sales of all time, with a chance of claiming the number one position if the pace holds. The second trailer has been received well, adding to the buzz.
Pinkvilla Predicts an opening-day range of Rs 68 to 78 crore nett in Hindi, and a pinpoint estimate of Rs 75 crore nett.
- 54,000 opening-day tickets at PVR Inox and Cinepolis by 1 PM Friday.
- 46,000 of those tickets sold at PVR Inox.
- 8,000 tickets sold at Cinepolis.
- 12 days remain before the theatrical release.
The pre-Diwali question
The caveat is timing. Ramayana is opening in a pre-Diwali window, and it has been some time since a film of this scale arrived during that period. Trade watchers are watching how much the holiday-frame timing shapes the opening and the days after. Pinkvilla notes the film is not necessarily reliant on the opening alone; comparisons to recent phenomena such as Mahavtara Narsimha and Hanuman Ansh have been raised, though Ramayana has the scale to go much bigger.
For fans and industry followers, the immediate test is not just the national-chain total. It is what happens when the rest of the ticket inventory opens. The current 54,000 figure is a strong early signal, but the full opening-day demand will only become clear once single screens and the South Indian circuits begin selling.
