Salaar Part 2 Filming to Start in June 2027, Says Prashanth Neel

Prashanth Neel and Prabhas reportedly point to June 2027 as the floor date for Salaar Part 2, with pre-production already under way.

Salaar Part 2: Filming Plan Set for June 2027

After months of speculation about when Khansaar would open its gates again, Salaar Part 2 finally has a production timeline worth tracking. Director Prashanth Neel reportedly told a recent public event audience, with Prabhas appearing beside him, that the sequel is being planned to begin filming in June 2027. Pre-production is already said to be underway.

That detail is the kind of signal Salaar fans have been waiting for since the first film arrived in 2023. It is still a working plan rather than a studio announcement, so the date could shift, but it moves the sequel from “eventually” to a visible marker on the calendar.

The story so far

The sequel is titled Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam and continues the world of Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. Set in the dystopian city-state of Khansaar, the films revolve around the emotionally charged bond between childhood friends Deva, played by Prabhas, and Vardharaja Mannar, played by Prithviraj Sukumaran. When political betrayal threatens Varadha’s hold on power, he calls on Deva, setting up a battle for control.

That emotional core is what made the first part a fan favourite. The supporting ensemble, including Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Easwari Rao, Shruti Haasan, Sriya Reddy and John Vijay, helped build the world around the two leads.

Why June 2027 matters

At first glance, a mid-2027 shoot sounds far away. It has to fit into a Prabhas calendar that is already extremely busy. Here is the line-up fans are tracking:

  • Fauzi: an action drama directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, expected in early 2027.
  • Spirit: Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action thriller, reportedly moved from March 5, 2027 to October 23, 2027.
  • Kalki 2898 AD Part 2: already in production, with the sequel following the 2024 blockbuster.

Prabhas was last seen in The Raja Saab, which drew a mixed response from critics and audiences. That makes the next stretch important: Fauzi and Spirit will set the tone before Prashanth Neel begins filming Salaar Part 2. A June 2027 start means the sequel is still a long wait, but at least the wait now has a shape.

What to watch for next

The real milestone will be an official confirmation, such as a first schedule or a returning cast update, once production actually kicks off. Until then, the best reason for cautious optimism is that pre-production is reportedly already moving. If Neel and his team can hold the June 2027 date, Salaar Part 2 will finally be on the journey from poster to set.
