Jailer 2 Worldwide Cume Hits Rs 208 Cr After Rs 84 Cr Day 2
Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 held strongly on day two with Rs 84 crore worldwide, pushing the cume to Rs 208 crore and setting up a Kollywood record chase.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is doing more than opening big — it is holding like a film with serious record ambitions. On its second day, the sequel added roughly Rs 84 crore worldwide, taking its two-day global cume to around Rs 208 crore, according to Pinkvilla’s trade estimates.
The real headline is not the size of the day. It is the hold.
The second-day numbers in one look
- India day two: approximately Rs 41 crore
- Overseas Friday: USD 4.50 million (around Rs 43 crore)
- Worldwide day two: approximately Rs 84 crore
- Two-day worldwide cume: Rs 208 crore; Indian cume near Rs 108 crore
Why a 38 per cent drop is the story
Mass films that open huge often fall sharply the next day. Pinkvilla notes Jailer 2’s India collections slipped only 38 per cent from opening day — a hold the trade is treating as a standout for a big South Indian opener. A strong second-day hold is the clearest early signal of word of mouth: audiences are not just turning up for the star; they are telling other people to go.
That hold matters more because the sequel is playing into an extended holiday corridor. Dusshera and Puja holidays fall on Monday and Tuesday, giving the film two extra high-collection days after the weekend.
The record chase gets real
Pinkvilla expects Jailer 2 to clear Rs 100 crore plus worldwide on Saturday and Sunday, which would push the extended weekend beyond Rs 400 crore. If the run stays at that level, the film could be closing in on Rs 500 crore by Tuesday.
Those projections put the sequel in rare company. It would sit roughly Rs 100 crore short of the original Jailer and about Rs 150 crore short of 2.0, the current Kollywood industry hit. The original Jailer added nearly Rs 300 crore after its first six days, so the sequel has room to keep climbing if the holds continue. Pinkvilla says the film now looks poised to be the biggest grosser in Kollywood history.
What fans should watch next
The next two days are the test. If Saturday and Sunday hold at the projected levels, the conversation moves from “hit” to “all-time record.” For fans, this is the rare stretch where every day’s numbers rearrange the record books — and the holiday weekdays give the film a genuine shot at the Rs 500 crore mark before the next full week begins.
