Drishyam 3 Hits ₹245.50 Crore in Week 1

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 has closed its first week with ₹245.50 crore net in India, overtaking the lifetime collection of Drishyam 2 within seven days. The second film had stopped at ₹239.67 crore net. It is now inching toward the ₹279.59 crore net lifetime of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the third instalment opened on Friday and registered the biggest opening of Ajay Devgn’s career. Advance bookings, which began on September 27, collected ₹27 crore before release. Opening day then delivered ₹66.75 crore net, the third-biggest opening day for a Hindi film ever, according to trade figures cited by Sacnilk.

How the first week built up

Weekend momentum gave the film its early cushion, and the weekdays held well enough to keep it ahead of the previous film’s pace. Here is the day-wise India net collection:

  • Friday: ₹66.75 crore
  • Saturday: ₹53.50 crore
  • Sunday: ₹61 crore
  • Monday: ₹21 crore
  • Tuesday: ₹19.50 crore
  • Wednesday: ₹15.50 crore
  • Thursday: ₹13 crore

The Monday drop was sharp, but that is a familiar pattern after a record-level opening weekend. The first seven days still closed at ₹245.50 crore net.

A franchise that keeps compounding

The Hindi Drishyam series began in 2015 as a remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam thriller and earned about ₹110 crore worldwide. Drishyam 2, released in 2022, took the franchise further with nearly ₹342 crore worldwide. Now Drishyam 3 has beaten that film’s India lifetime in week one.

That momentum matters beyond the milestone. Vijay Salgaonkar, the ordinary man at the centre of an extraordinary cover-up, has become one of Bollywood’s most bankable franchise characters. The next marker is Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Ajay Devgn’s 2020 historical drama, which remains his highest-grossing film with ₹279.59 crore net. Drishyam 3 is roughly ₹34 crore away from that career record.

The streak is notable because Drishyam has always been a character-led thriller rather than a spectacle-led action film. Each sequel has raised the stakes while keeping the family at the centre, and that consistency has helped the audience return.

The people and studios behind it

Drishyam 3 brings back Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant. Saurabh Shukla reprises his second-film role in a cameo. Abhishek Pathak directs and co-writes with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The film is backed by Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios, and produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak.

For fans, the first-week number signals that Drishyam 3 is now the franchise’s biggest India earner, with the record books still open. The next week will decide whether it can become Ajay Devgn’s highest-grossing film, but the first seven days have already changed the franchise’s box-office hierarchy.
