Nushrratt Bharuccha Airlifted to Mumbai After Spinal Fracture

Nushrratt Bharuccha is back in Mumbai after a serious accident in Bali left her with a spinal fracture. The 41-year-old actor was flown home by air ambulance on Friday, her team confirmed, and will now need surgery.

News of the hospitalisation emerged on Thursday, Oct 1. A day later, her publicist confirmed that Bharuccha had fractured her spine. What caused the accident and the exact location of the fracture have not been disclosed.

Bharuccha has been a familiar face for young Hindi-film audiences since Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Dream Girl. At 41, she sits at a busy point in her career, balancing mainstream Hindi films and streaming projects, so the timing of an enforced pause is significant.

From Bali to Mumbai

Bharuccha was in Bali for what her team described as a “work-cum-holiday trip”. After the accident, she remained under medical observation in Bali while arrangements were made to bring her back to India.

Videos after her return showed her being moved from an ambulance on a stretcher and taken into a Mumbai hospital, surrounded by medical staff, family and friends. Her Pyaar Ka Punchnama co-star Ishita Raj was reported to have accompanied her.

“Nushrratt Bharuccha, who was in Bali for a work-cum-holiday trip, met with an unfortunate accident and suffered a fracture in her spine,” her team said in a statement.

What the injury means for her slate

Her team said the injury and surgery would require time to rest and recover, and that work commitments over the next few weeks are likely to be affected. A recovery timeline has not been made public.

Bharuccha has several projects already announced:

  • An untitled film alongside Tiger Shroff, directed by Remo D’Souza, also featuring Pashmina Roshan, Abhishek Banerjee and Elvish Yadav.
  • A Netflix crime thriller with Manoj Bajpayee and Saqib Saleem, originally titled Ghooskhor Pandat.

That makes this more than a personal health story for fans. Until she recovers, production and promotional schedules around those titles may have to shift, which directly affects what audiences see and when.

Privacy over speculation

Her team asked for space. “We request everyone to respect her privacy at this time and allow her the space to focus on her treatment and recovery,” the statement said.

The request is worth taking seriously. The only confirmed facts are the fracture, the airlift and the surgery ahead. Details are thin, and the absence of information can invite guesswork. For now, the practical update is simple: Bharuccha is home, she is in medical care, and her team will speak when there is something new.
