Shreyaa Chaudhry joins Ayushmann in YRF's Mupapa

Shreyaa Chaudhry is making the leap from streaming favourite to big-screen lead. The Bandish Bandits actor has been cast opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Mupapa, a Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures production that will release in cinemas on February 19, 2027.

Shreyaa first appeared on the big screen in Dear Maya (2017), but it was her role as Tamanna Sharma in Prime Video’s Bandish Bandits that brought her wider recognition. She was later seen in The Mehta Boys, Boman Irani’s directorial debut, alongside Irani and Avinash Tiwary.

What we know about Mupapa

The makers have described the project as a “genre-bending theatrical film” that aims to offer a new visual experience. Sameer Saxena, known for directing Kaala Paani, helms the film. It is produced by Akshaye Widhani with Posham Pa Pictures, the banner co-founded by Saxena, Biswapati Sarkar, Saurabh Khanna and Amit Golani.

  • Release date: February 19, 2027
  • Cast: Shreyaa Chaudhry opposite Ayushmann Khurrana
  • Backing: Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures
  • Director: Sameer Saxena
  • Plot and characters: still under wraps

The secrecy around the story could become one of the film’s biggest talking points, especially since this is the first time Shreyaa and Ayushmann will share the screen.

Why this casting matters

For Shreyaa, the move is significant. After building recognition through Bandish Bandits and The Mehta Boys, Mupapa could be the moment her streaming success translates into a much larger theatrical presence. She has also joined YRF Talent, the studio’s talent-management arm, which gives her a major production house behind her expanding film career.

For Ayushmann, the film continues his association with unconventional, genre-driven cinema. He previously worked with YRF on Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Meri Pyaari Bindu, so Mupapa sits comfortably in his pattern of character-led choices.

What to watch next

Fans will have to wait for plot and character details. The February 2027 release gives the makers room to build anticipation, so watch for a first look, teaser or motion poster, and for Shreyaa’s first promotional moments as a YRF-backed theatrical lead.
