Dating and relationship are not easy, and if you’re a single mother in a conventional setting with a trouble-making teenage daughter and a care-free younger brother, life can offer some really juicy, painful, and jazzy twists and turns, that just sums up Lionsgate Play’s foray into their first Hindi original series Hiccups & Hookups.
Helmed by Kunal Kohli, this heart-warming and sassy series offers a sneak-peek into progressive families living a chaotic life in the big city. Though the landscape is metro issues are just the same. We all want someone special in our lives and our dreams to be fulfilled.
In Hiccups & Hookups Lara Dutta as Vasudha Rao is a strong, educated, and progressive woman, who is dealing with a divorce from a cheating husband, a teenage daughter who is nothing be trouble and attitude, and her own dreams and desires, which are often crushed under the weight of responsibilities.
Prateik Babbar plays Akhil Rao, a free-spirited app-developers, who is silly, caring, sensible, and yet understands life a lot better than most people in his family.
Newbie Shinnova as Kavanya Khattar, a trouble-making spoilt girl, who wants nothing but got things and is full of herself.
Kunal Kohli has taken three different characters and put them under one roof with life to deal with, this could have been a boring inspirational soap opera, but this one is refreshing, and offers a brand new take on issues of life, which people take way to seriously. The series also deals with family issues and explores sibling relationships.
The story is bold, progressive, sassy, and hearty, it opens the door to where issues of life can be dealt with without going overboard with heavy-duty drama. Characters are well written, actors have worked on their chemistry with each other, there is not a single false note in anyone’s performance.
The series premiere on 26th November and will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali.
