Dum (2003): All you should know about this Bollywood movie

by Ratan Srivastava

Dum is a Bollywood action thriller film directed by Eeshwar Nivas & produced by Ali and Karim Morani that was released in 2003. The movie is a remake of the 2001 Tollywood Dhill and features Vivek Oberoi, Diya Mirza, Govind Namdeo, and Atul Kulkarni. Additional parts are played by Sushant Singh, Mukesh Rishi, as well as Sheeba. Sandeep Chowta composed the soundtrack for the movie, which was released by Sony Music Studios.

On January 24, 2003, the picture was released in theatres. Dum was panned by director Dharani, who wrote the screenplay Dhill, for deviating form of the original material as well as making substantial plot alterations, which led to the movie’s failure inside the Hindi marketplace.

Mohan and Uday (Vivek Oberoi) are from poor middle-class families. The lads are adamant about entering the police force, despite their family’ desires. The two want to establish a name for themselves simply on the strength of their talents. Despite the lack of any references or leverage to get into the police school, luck shines on them in the shape of their training officer, Raj Dutt Sharma.

On January 24, 2003, the picture was released in theatres. To get a 12A classification in the United Kingdom, the distributor deleted the visuals of a gunshot hit.

Planet Bollywood rated the movie a 7.5/10, saying that “the spirit was lost” inside the second half, and compared it to Cineyug’s original movie Arjun, which had a similar topic. The action scenes and background soundtrack, on the other hand, were commended by the critic. Writing for Bollywood Hungama, Taran Adarsh gave the movie and one a half stars from out of five, lauding the very first half while criticising the second; he praised the cinematography as well as the action sequence alignment this apart from the showings of Oberoi and Kulkarni but wrote off the movie script and implementation.
