As per the reports, the case is registered against Vibhu Agarwal, CEO of Ullu app for allegedly molesting a woman in the office storeroom at Andheri. Read below to know more details on the incident.
The company published a statement on Friday, two days after an FIR was filed against Vibhu Agarwal, the CEO of OTT platform Ullu, for allegedly abusing a 28-year-old woman, alleging the complainant was a former employee against whom the company had filed an extortion and cheating complaint in June.
The corporation said in a news release that it had filed a complaint with the Lucknow Police Department on June 10 in this regard. The statement further added that “As a counter blast and as an afterthought, after a lapse of more than 17 days and as a sheer abuse of laws in favour of women, on 5.7.2021 (the date when she was asked to appear before Lucknow police), (the former employee) has filed a false complaint accusing Ullu’s country head Anjali Raina and CEO Vibhu Agarwal of molestation.”
According to police, the woman said that after being summoned to the company’s headquarters in Lotus Business Park in Andheri (west), Agarwal forced her to remove her clothes in front of him.
The incident happened on June 18, according to police. Agarwal did not respond to a request for comment. According to the complaint, Agarwal summoned her to the company’s warehouse and threatened to defame her family if she did not comply with his requests.
Sections 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 B (using criminal force on any woman or abetting such conduct with the goal of disrobing), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (act done with common intention by two or more individuals) of the Indian Penal Code have been used to file the FIR (IPC).
