Megastar Amitabh Bachchan reportedly cancelled his deal with Kamala Pasand pan masala company in October of this year, claiming he wasn’t unaware that this really fell beneath surrogate advertising. The actor was asked by that the National Anti-Tobacco Organization to resign as from a commercial campaign, which he did.
Despite cancelling the agreement as well as demanding that the advertisements depicting him be removed, Kamala Pasand has yet to comply. According to a source in the business, “A Legal notice has been sent to Kamala Pasand to stop Broadcasting the TV commercials with Mr Bachchan immediately. The notice was sent after it was observed that despite termination of the Endorsement agreement Kamala Pasand has ignored the same and continues to air the TV commercials featuring Bachchan.”
It was already revealed inside an official announcement, “Kamala Pasand … a few days after the commercial was aired, Mr Bachchan contacted the brand and stepped out of it last week. Upon checking why this sudden move – it was revealed that when Mr Bachchan became associated with the brand, he wasn’t aware that it falls under surrogate advertising Mr Bachchan has terminated the contract with the Brand, has written to them his termination and has returned the money received for the promotion.”
Amitabh Bachchan as well as Shekhar Salkar, President of the National Organization For Tobacco Eradication, had already received a letter. It argued that perhaps the pan masala is harmful to residents’ health and also that Big B should drop out of the marketing.
