The highest-paid Instagrammer is Cristiano Ronaldo has climbed to the top of Instagram’s yearly rich list of celebrities who can demand the most for a public post, with the footballer commanding as much as $1.6 million (£1.2 million) to endorse a product on the platform. In a list that includes wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and singer Ariana Grande, the Portugal captain has been named king of the influencers after causing a stir by removing Coca-Cola cups from view during a post-match news conference.
It’s the first occasion the footballer has topped the yearly rankings, which are controlled by reality TV, film, and music stars from the United States.
Last year, the projected price Ronaldo may charge for a public post increased considerably, nearly doubling from $889,000 in 2019. Ronaldo jumped from third to first position in 2019, passing Johnson, the previous list-topper, and Kylie Jenner, the cosmetics artist and celebrity, who was rated second.
The 36-year-Instagram old’s earnings are believed to be more than $40 million a year, more than his income as a player for Serie A club Juventus in Italy, and his pay-per-post price has risen in tandem with his popularity, which has skyrocketed throughout the epidemic.
Ronaldo has more than 300 million Instagram followers, having gained more than 125 million since the start of the year, more than tripling his previous high of 100 million in 2017 when the very first “rich list” was produced.
The highest-paid Instagrammer sells anti-dandruff haircare brand Clear on Instagram, which he advertises in sleek television-quality films alongside more amateur uploads with advice to followers like “keeping a clear mind helps me to stay on top of the competition.”
His total social media following is around 550 million, which includes the major sites Facebook and Twitter.
