Anand strained to come up with novel concepts for a romantic picture he wished to create while he was scripting. His partner Mamta subsequently did come up also with the movie’s central plot, which piqued his interest and shifted his viewpoint.
Anand contacted author Advaita Kala, who turned the narrative into such a feature-length screenplay and eventually collaborated with him during the screenplay. The majority of the filming took place in New York City, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.

Again for the movie’s soundtrack, Vishal-Shekhar got nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.
The initial cost for such a movie was Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, who were announced by Anand in August 2009. Chopra and Nadiadwala had intended to work together for another Chopra’s performance in Nadiadwala’s Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in 2004, but nothing had transpired. Nadiadwala later contacted her to talk about a project he was working on with Anand and Kapoor.
Chopra engaged with Anand to talk about the script, however, the idea fell through. Chopra approved the part of Anjaana Anjaani after Nadiadwala contacted her again with the screenplay.

The movie Anjaana Anjaani was supposed to be released on September 24, 2010. It was rescheduled through one week, only four days before the actual date, because this would fall the same day as the contentious Ayodhya dispute judgement, something that many believed to be challenged and bring unrest in the nation. Experts opposed the movie’s postponement and challenged Nadiadwala’s judgment, pointing out that the government already has taken precautions also with Commonwealth Games around the next horizon. Officials also believed that delaying the premiere might convey confusing signals to viewers, given the promotional effort had been focused just on the release date of September 25.
